Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour

Two hours driving, two and a half in line, experiencing Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour - Priceless. Today and today only, Disneyland came to Utah, Ogden's Union Station to be specific. Disney's A Christmas Carol Train Tour, which set off Memorial Day weekend in Los Angeles, made its way to Utah as part of a 40 city tour that will end around November 1 in New York. It is a four car plus engine train wrapped in logos and imagery from the breakthrough film to be released this November 6th. It really did feel like being at Disneyland at Christmas. There were carolers, snow machines, Christmas music, and even young garbage sweepers! The ceiling in the train was really cool - it looked like the sky. The train had portraits of the characters and period clothing used to design them, artifacts from the Charles Dickens Library in London, screens showing stills from the film, scenes in development, a tour of locations in London, and a spot where you could morph your face into the face of one of the characters. The last car had a fireplace and a Christmas dinner layed out on the table with a view onto a street from the film - looked real! Plus it smelled amazing! Sweet and Christmas-like. Disney is really good at the smell-imagery. The we were led to a portable blow up theatre where we previewed footage from the film in 3D. All I can say is wow! The technology has advanced so much from when they did the Polar Express. Robert Zemeckis said that finally technology is able to make the story Dickens wrote into what he imagined it to be. They are sticking very close to the book, if not exactly - which no film has ever done. If you don't know what I am talking about, I highly recommend you read the book and you will be surprised at how many things are different in the current film versions and how grand his vision was. Robert Zemeckis also said this book was almost written to be made into a film like this because the imagery is so great. So mark your calendars for November 6th to see this film in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D!

Life in Logan

So here we are on the brink of summer. Since it was Halloween when I last posted, I thought I ought to update and whats new. Summer so far in Seattle, uh, er - Logan is going great! Last week I started summer classes - Human Anatomy - in which I had an exam already today, wasn't too bad, and Family Finance - which is looking to be easy and very useful. I am still working for USU Parking, although for the summer while I still enforce on occasion, I mainly do maintenance and other stuff around the office. I am currently working on repainting the green Loading Zone curbs around campus, they are looking pretty awesome! recently I have been usig a mini grill which probably makes my neighbors envious since you can smell it from a ways off. Other than the free food Mondays at FHE and an occasional bonfire up the canyon, not much is new. Only 8 days left until Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, but who is counting? I bought my tickets a while ago for the IMAX in Sandy - gonna be off da hook!

Rollover Accident

Well, I had a really scary morning today. I was on my way to Logan for an appointment with my Stake President up there. I dozed off before Brigham City and went into the barrow pit between the lanes. I woke up then and moved back to the freeway where I didn't really have control when the car returned with a screech to the barrow bit and began a barrel roll to the left where I rolled at least a couple times. I landed upright. I was very impressed by the people that stopped to help. No sooner had I stopped, people were by my car and were talking to me and helping me out - I was able to walk away from my car. A girl found my phone where it landed right away and called home for me. Very quickly emergency services arrived and started taking care of me. They took me in an ambulance to a hospital in Brigham City. They took me in for a CT scan and x rays of my head. I have a black eye- that was there immediately after the accident, slightly scraped elbow and knee. And the corner of my jaw and neck feels and looks like the seat belt hit it hard. Overall I feel and look like I have been in a serious fight and my car is in Brigham City, basically totaled. I feel very lucky and blessed. I am grateful for the protection I received from my Heavenly Father, preserving my life and keeping my injuries to a minimum. The side airbags didn't deploy but fortunately the roll cage on my Subaru is/was really strong and didn't collapse.

Well, I have been slacking a lot in the blogging department. A lot has happened since I last really posted. I finished Spring Semester, went on vacation to Kauai, Hawaii with the family in May, and I have been working for Holt Curbing doing decorative landscape curbing. In 3 weeks i will be moving back to Logan to start another semester at Utah State

Viva Las Vegas!!

Wow, so I know it has been over a week since I went to Vegas, but it has been so Crazy with Christmas! My friend Matt and I had SO much fun, I want to do it again. I wish I could have stayed but my feet were happy to be home. Our longest walk was from the Sahara down to the Wynn, Venetian, Caesar's and The Forum, Bellagio, Planet Hollywood, Paris, PALMS!, a cab back to the strip, and then back to the Sahara. It was a blast! Our room was way cheap and was really decent. We were on the 19th floor but at that endf the strip there isn't much to see. When we first got there we drove first out to Hoover Dam.

We were excited to see where Optimus Prime had duked it out with Starscream. They repaired the damage well, lol! Oh, by the way, we left SLC Around 4:20 AM and arrived in Vegas just after 10, hardly any traffic! Arizona was really uneventful, southbound through the Virgin River Gorge is under construction and has slow speed limits. We also went to Coca-Cola World and while there we tried the International sampler of drinks. Some were good, and some were aweful. the worst was Beverly from Italy, it tasted worse after drinking a German one they have before it on the tray.

We also met pavaroti in the Venetian, well, at least a really good wax version of him. After walking back from the Palms, we DROVE, thank goodness, to Fremont Street. It was cool to see it finally after seeing so many movies and shows there. The canopy show was cool. We ate a couple times at In n Out Burger which was awesome. The water fountain at the Bellagio was really cool. We got a really cool video of the Andrea Bocelli song Time to Say Goodbye sung by him and Celine Dion. Then they played Christmas songs to the fountain which was cool. The decorations were neat to see since only this time of the year they are up. I would have to say the Bellagio had the best, especially in the conservatory.

We also got two free drinks with our room, so after coming back from Fremont Street we went to one of the bars in the Sahara. I had a Roy Rogers and Matt had a Shirley Temple. Overall it was really fun. The Wynn is VERY nice. Who knows if I will ever be able to stay there but hey, they do have a Ferrari/Maseratti dealership. i think my favorites are the Wynn and Bellagio, however, MGM Grand is the only one of the ones we went to that still takes coins in its slots. There isn't the familiar sound of coins dropping anymore, just tickets printing but thats quiet. This was a very low budget trip, so I am excited to go back one day with more cash ion my pocket and be able to do more and ride more.

Funny Night!

So tonight I watched Home Alone 2 at some friends' house. We had cheesecake and brownies and realized again just how funny that movie is, especially Daniel Stern - great actor! And besides SNL, it was pretty much Rob Schneider's debut. Good times! We were laughing through most of the movie, it was awesome! A few parts we rewound and watched it again, it was so funny!

So me and my lifelong best friend, Matt Wright, decided we haven't done anything crazy and spontaneous - waiting in line for hours to see a movie we decided didn't count, lol! And we have never done any kind of road trips - Driving to Park City to see Bill Engvall in my book doesn't count. So we have decide to do something CRAZY and SPONTANEOUS to relax after finals and gear up for Christmas: WE ARE GOING TO VEGAS!!! I booked our room tonight at the Sahara for real cheap - $30!! I am way excited, it will be so much fun! Coke World, M&M World, The Forum, In 'n Out (and whatever else crosses our path) - HERE WE COME!

Wednesday - Date Night!

So, tonight I went out on a date. No, it wasnt my first date since I have been back from Mexico, but it definitely was a good one. We went to a Student Alumni Association Activity - a etiquette at Hamiltons in North Logan. It was really good food. I had chicken cord en bleu and creme brule - delicious! And while we ate we got to mingle with fun people at our table and learned etiquette for eating and job interviews.

Thanksgiving 2007

Well this Thanksgiving was pretty cool. Last Thanksgiving I was in Mexico City. This year we went down to Moroni to our Aunt Myrla and Uncle Reed's house. It was a wonderful meal. We had almost 40 people there. Some came from close by and some from far off - Phoenix! It was great to see the family again. Here are some pictures from the day of Thanksgiving.
